Tamil Nadu batsman Dinesh Karthik has hinted at a possible debut for Varun Chakravarthy. The two have played together for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and Karthik feels Varun’s time has come.
Ahead of the T20I series between Sri Lanka and India, the latter’s team management has several selection headaches. Several players already made their debuts in the recently concluded ODI series. However, a few were left out, and they will likely get a chance in the shortest format.
One such player is Varun Chakravarthy. He is regarded as a mystery spinner and might get the green light alongside Rahul Chahar. The tracks at R. Premadasa Stadium have aided spinners so far. Since the duo ‘Kul-Cha‘ didn’t perform well enough, Dinesh Karthik brought up the name of Varun Chakravarthy.
In a tweet, the wicket-keeper batsman implied the chances of seeing the mystery spinner debut. He said:

Varun Chakravarthy could prove to be the X-factor going into the series
KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy may finally get to make his international debut. Although he has been selected for the national side before, he had failed to clear the fitness tests. This time around, Varun is fit and raring to go.
The tried and tested Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal combination has proved to be expensive. They have failed to recapture the magic that they once put on display. The two leggies lack confidence and have also been found out by teams.
