Indian middle order batter Suryakumar Yadav came out to address a press conference ahead of the 2nd T20 International against Australia. The penultimate game is scheduled to take place on February, September 23, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Suryakumar’s witty answers and responses are second to none. This press interaction also revealed the funny side of the Indian batter. A journalist asked Surya whether he had been given the role of attacking the spinners by the management.

To this, Suryakumar Yadav giggled and replied, saying that it’s nothing of that sort and that he has attacked the pacers as well, but in a funny way. Here’s what he said:

“Sir, do chakke toh fast bowler ke against bhi maare toh thoda credit banta hai, kya bolte ho?”

He further added:

“I’m very flexible, no particular role. Actually, I plan for every situation. I am flexible to bat in anywhere, whichever number I’m asked to bat, I know I just have to do my role and I am happy to do it.”

“He is very deceptive” – Suryakumar Yadav backs Harshal Patel

After a successful stint in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians, Suryakuamar Yadav made his debut on the national side at the age of 30. Ever since he has been impressive and consistent with the bat. He is a regular member of the T20 team.

In the first T20I against Australia, he scored 46 off 225 balls, including four maximums and two fours. However, all the efforts went in vain as the bowlers were unable to defend the target of 208. India eventually lost the match. However, Suryakumar came out in defense of the bowlers, specifically Harshal Patel, in the presser.

“He is very deceptive. I don’t bat in net sessions much, but as much as I have played him and also Bhuvi bhai is also difficult to decipher. But Harshal’s slower balls and his different variations are really deceptive and he has just come from an injury, so this much benefit of the doubt should be allowed.”

India appears to be in serious trouble after suffering consecutive heartbreaking losses at major centre-stage tournaments. The T20 World Cup 2022 is a few weeks away. India will face their arch-rival Pakistan in the opening high-pressure game. The clock is ticking at a much faster pace for them.
