“Don’t Think Anyone Else Has Mastered The Finishing Art Like MS Dhoni” – Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag will once again be donning the finisher’s hat in the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League. He expressed that MS Dhoni is his inspiration as a finisher, and there is nobody who has mastered the art like the former Indian skipper.

Riyan Parag has been part of the Rajasthan Royals since the 2019 Indian Premier League season. In 47 IPL matches, he has scored 522 runs at a strike rate of 124.88, with 56 as his highest score. In an interview with the PTI, Riyan Parag spoke about his role in the Rajasthan Royals and his inspiration MS Dhoni. He said,

“I have been doing the finishing role for the last three years now. There is just one name that comes to my mind which I also have said before, MS Dhoni. I do not think anyone else has mastered that art. Going into that role, I always look up to him, how he finishes games or how he takes the game deep.”

If Rajasthan Royals ask me, I would say No. 4 – Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag further expressed he is open to bat anywhere the team wants him to in the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League. However, he added that if the franchise asks him, he would prefer to bat at number 4. Riyan Parag said to the PTI,

“If they (Royals) were to ask me where I want to bat, I would say No. 4. But, then, like always, I am open to bat wherever the team needs me and wherever they think I fit the best. It is a team game; whichever way the combinations match up, I am happy to contribute.”

The Rajasthan Royals will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, April 2 in an away game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to kick off their campaign in the 2023 Indian Premier League.
