Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was part of a freak accident where he fractured his leg. This injury has ruled him out of cricketing action for several months. While having fun at a birthday party with his friend they both slipped and unfortunately, Maxwell’s friend landed straight on his leg which led to a fracture.

He underwent surgery for his broken leg. He recalled asking for his wife after slipping and being unable to move. Speaking on cricket.com.au’s Unplayable Podcast he revealed the details of this incident.

“It just snapped. I heard and felt every part of it. It was pretty painful. I was screaming a bit and he (my friend) was like, ‘please tell me you’re joking, please tell me you’re joking’. Then I hit this ultimate calmness and shock and was like – just broken my leg. I am pretty sure both bones are broken. Don’t think I should move. Can you please get my wife?”

“She’s been on absolute fire” – Glenn Maxwell on his wife Vini Raman

Now he is recovering at home where his wife, Vini Raman, is taking care of him along with juggling her work commitments.

Glenn Maxwell said: “She’s been on absolute fire – at my beck and call basically. It’s been hard work non-stop for her. She’s obviously still working from home. For her to have a full-time job with me and also be able to keep working just shows there is always a stronger woman behind every bloke. She’s obviously the strong one in this relationship.”

However, the two of them tied the knot earlier this year for which he skipped the Pakistan tour. He was ruled out in the ODI series versus England and will be unavailable for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League where he represents and captain’s the Melbourne Stars.
