Dukes Owner Breaks Silence On Ball Controversy In ENG vs IND Tests

Dukes owner Dilip Jajodia has once again addressed concerns surrounding the quality of the ball being used in the ongoing England-India Test series. With repeated complaints surfacing, Jajodia assured that the issue will be looked into and the manufacturing process will undergo a thorough review.

Throughout the series, players from both teams have raised concerns about the Dukes ball losing its shape and going soft much earlier than expected. This problem became especially evident during the third Test at Lord’s, where frequent ball changes disrupted the flow of play.

The situation even led to visible frustration from Indian skipper Shubman Gill and pacer Mohammed Siraj, who were seen arguing with the umpires. The Dukes ball, traditionally favoured in English conditions for its swing-friendly nature, has now come under scrutiny.

In response, Jajodia confirmed that a detailed inspection will be conducted, and adjustments will be made if necessary.

“We will take it away, inspect and then start talking to the tanner, talking about all of the raw materials – everything. Everything we do will be reviewed and then if we think some changes need to be made or tightened up, we will,” he told BBC Sport (via News18).

Dilip Jajodia’s earlier remarks on the Test balls were completely diffrent

Dilip Jajodia has previously addressed concerns about the Dukes balls being used in the ongoing EnglandIndia Test series. In his initial response, he attributed the issues to factors like the pitch conditions, modern playing styles, and the unpredictable English weather.

“The balls are being hit harder, further, and therefore impacting things like pillars and seats and so on. All these have an impact on the ball. When you look at any ball objectively, it’s a small round object and it’s been battered all day. To expect that to be perfectly in shape all day is an impossibility. It can’t be done, nobody can do it,” he had said.
