The absence of Ravichandran Ashwin from the Indian Xi in the first test created a lot of furore on social media. Ravindra Jadeja’s inclusion in place of Ashwin for the first Test divided opinions of cricket fans and experts. Jadeja had a good match with the bat scoring a crucial half-century for India in the first innings. he had a wicketless spell with the ball. Meanwhile, ahead of the second Test, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has batted for the inclusion of both Ashwin and Jadeja

India decided to go with four pacers and Jadeja as the specialist spinner. Chopra in his Youtube video has said that Shardul Thakur might have to make way for Ashwin and Jadeja to play together.

“One hundred percent. You want to play five bowlers and don’t want to compromise on your batting, I totally get it. But in that, you should definitely play Ashwin and Jaddu and both will bat well also. It will be unfortunate that you will have to leave out Shardul,” said Aakash Chopra.

Chopra also opined on the three pacers who should play the second Test. He voted for the inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj as the three pacers. In the process, he overlooked Ishant Sharma, who bowled a match-winning spell in 2014 to help India win a memorable Test match.

“You will play your three premier bowlers, who are Bumrah, Shami and Siraj after this Test match – Ishant will also have to wait. That’s the nature of the beast, you get injured and someone plays and ensures his place, then it takes longer for you to come back,” explained cricketer-turned-commentator Chopra.

Team India were robbed of a massive chance of winning the first Test and go 1-up in the series. Rain played a spoilsport on the fifth and final day as England got out of jail. Joe Root hit his 21st Test ton at Nottingham. The second test starts at Lord’s from July 12.
