Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta feels that the Indian team is slightly ahead in the first test against England after the end of day three. India scored 278 runs and took a 95-run lead in the first innings, after bowling England out for 183 on day one.
That's about it on Day 3⃣ of the first #ENGvIND Test at Trent Bridge!
Rain has cut short the day's play, with England moving to 2⃣5⃣/0⃣ – trailing #TeamIndia by 7⃣0⃣ runs.

In a video uploaded on Deep Dasgupta’s youtube channel, he said that the match is 55-45 in India’s favour. But the Indian bowlers must take three wickets before England wipe out the lead or else it will become difficult for them to win the test.
“I think India are slightly ahead in the contest, 55-45 at the moment. They have a lead of 70 runs and there is just a collapse around the corner in this England batting unit. But on Day 4 it is important that India take three wickets before England take the lead. If only one or two wickets fall when England take the lead, then chasing 180-200 in the final innings can be very tricky in the fourth innings.”
Jadeja once again proves why he is preferred ahead of Ashwin: Deep Dasgupta
Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 runs off 86 balls, including eight boundaries and a six. He came in after the fall of Rishabh Pant’s wicket and then upped the batting tempo once, the Indian tail-enders came at the crease. The former Indian wicket-keeper, Deep Dasgupta was all praise for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
“One more half-century and Jadeja has again proved why he is preferred ahead of Ravichandra Ashwin. Because, the way he is batting in the last two years, he averages nearly 45.”
“When he came in to bat, KL Rahul was already at the crease. So he batted like a proper batsman. He left the balls which were outside off, scored runs off the leg stump balls. But when KL Rahul and Shardul Thakur got out, then he changed his gear. In the next half of his inning, he played like a normal Ravindra Jadeja, who free-flowingly hits boundaries. At this moment without a doubt, Ravindra Jadeja is one of the top all-rounders,” Deep Dasgupta concluded.
