Former Team India fast bowler Zaheer Khan has hailed KL Rahul as a perfect team man and has drawn comparisons with former skipper Rahul Dravid. Rahul, who is back in the Test side after almost two years, grabbed the opportunity with both hands with a brilliant knock.
Rahul came in the playing XI at the cost of Mayank Agarwal, who suffered a head injury hours ahead of the 1st Test. Back in the side and at the top, KL Rahul showed great determination alongside Rohit Sharma. They added 97 runs for the first wicket before a mini-collapse. However, Rahul held one side strong as propelled India to a steady first-innings lead.

Seeing KL Rahul play an incredibly responsible innings at the top of the batting order in the first Test against England, former India pacer Zaheer Khan didn’t shy away from drawing comparisons between him and the legendary Rahul Dravid.
“Absolutely. Add another point – ‘that’ Rahul also held the wicketkeeping gloves for the team and Rahul did the same as well. It could either be the Bangalore connection or the connection of their names but he’s very talented too. Rahul Dravid has done so much for India that this show won’t suffice to talk about it. But yes, seeing such a role model who has done so much for the team compared to him and seeing that he’s being looked at with the same eyes, KL Rahul would be very happy,” Zaheer said during a chat on Cricbuzz.
Coincidentally, both KL and Dravid hail from Karnataka and have a common name too. Their ability to change positions and roles within the Indian team effortlessly has also become a common factor.
KL Rahul-Ravindra Jadeja guide India to a 95-run lead
After a steady opening stand, India suffered a mini-collapse. Veteran fast bowler James Anderson shed fire reducing India from 97/0 to 112/4. With the visitors under pressure, KL Rahul fought exceedingly well alongside Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja to go past England’s first-innings total of 183 runs.
In the second essay, England are 25/0 before rain gods started pouring to halt the day’s play.
