ENG vs IND 2021: Virender Sehwag Showers Praise On KL Rahul After Brilliant Comeback

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has showered praise on KL Rahul following his stellar show with the bat in the first Test against England in Nottingham. Rahul held India’s batting in the first innings with a gritty knock of 84 before chipping in with 26 in the second essay.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul came back into the side almost after 2 years. He appeared briefly in the team after the 2019 World Cup but a lack of runs saw him sit out yet again. Due to injuries to seasoned openers Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal, Rahul got an opportunity and made a resounding comeback in the whites.

Virender Sehwag praised KL Rahul’s shot selection during his comeback innings. Speaking on a show in Sony Sports, Sehwag said:

“There are two types of mindset, you can make a comeback either in Rahul Dravid style, where you don’t play a shot at all and become extremely defensive, or you play aggressively in Sehwag style. Both are difficult, so you have to find your own way which is best for you.”

Sehwag also highlighted that KL Rahul has improved his shot selection to great effect which is reflecting in his batting. Virender Sehwag noted that Rahul played every shot depending on how the ball was bowled.

“A very good thing that the improvement was caused by his shot selection. It is the most important thing, if your shot selection is good, the performance will surely happen. Virat Kohli is so consistent because his shot selection is very good. He knows which shots he can play and which he can’t. He sticks to that even after scoring a century,” Sehwag said.

KL Rahul will hope to keep up the good job in the upcoming matches and seal his place in the Test side.
