England skipper Joe Root scored his twenty-second hundred in Test cricket. The right-hander is batting on 117* off 217 deliveries in the second test match against India at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Joe Root steered a short of a length delivery from Jasprit Bumrah for a single to get to his hundred. The England skipper punched in the air and raised his arms to celebrate his consecutive hundred in the series. Root got together with Jonny Bairstow to put a 120-run stand for the fourth wicket partnership before Mohammad Siraj dismissed the latter.

Joe Root became the player with the most hundreds against India in Test matches. This was his seventh hundred in thirty-nine innings. The England skipper crossed the 9000 runs mark in Test cricket and became the second England player to achieve this feat. He is also the second youngest after Alastair Cook to score 9000 Test runs.
In the ongoing test match at Lord’s, England is less than 100 runs behind India’s 364 in the first innings. Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler joined Joe Root at the crease after the fall of Jonny Bairstow’s wicket. England will be determined to take the vital first-innings lead in this test match.

Back to back hundreds for Joe Root, 22nd in Test cricket, 100* from 200 balls including 9 fours. One of the greats from England putting a show at Lord's. #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/ydNbvaZS8X

For all the Test cricket that England have played & do play, it’s amazing that Joe Root will only be their second batsman to get to 9000 career runs. You’d think the challenge of batting a lot in English conditions couldn’t be the sole reason for that #EngvIND

What a time to score your 22nd Test Hundred! With England under extreme pressure the captain delivers again. Unbelievable grit and determination from Joe Root. Only Kevin Pietersen (23) and Alastair Cook (33) ahead of him now… #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/nEwfDa2LFk
