Team India opener Rohit Sharma was seemingly disappointed after his dismissal just at the stroke of lunch on day 2 of the 1st Test in Nottingham. He once again failed to convert the start after doing all the hard work and scoring 36 runs.
Rohit will be keen to stamp his authority as a Test batsman on overseas conditions and put all criticisms to rest. And rightly he looked determined and patient during his 36-run knock. But a rash shot of his shoulder off Ollie Robinson ended his stay in the middle.

Reacting to his dismissal at the end of the day’s play, Rohit Sharma stated that a batsman needs to stay positive despite admitting that he was disappointed to get out in that manner.
âSee as you said, it is my shot so I have to play my shots. As you saw in the first hour of play, we didnât get any loose balls and their bowlers were quite disciplined so you have to take your odd chances when the ball is there to hit. Of course, when you get around the time of close of play, you are disappointed and thatâs how I am feeling about it,â Rohit Sharma said after the dayâs play.
“I will play that shot again” – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma mentioned that thereâs a âthin lineâ between the same shot racing to the boundary and getting caught. However, heâs also stated that heâs ready to take the gamble.
âWhen you do that if you get out, you feel disappointed but thereâs a very thin line in getting out like that and that same ball 5 yards here or there could have gone either way as well. Youâve got to think positive and thatâs what my mindset was. I know it was around the lunch but if I see the ball in my area, I have to play my shots,â he added.
Meanwhile, India suffered a mini-collapse after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal as they were reduced to 112/4 from 97/0. England look to ran down India’s batting before rain played spoilsport. The onus now will be on KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant to stage a big partnership and steer their side to a big first-innings total.
