It was a tough day for Jasprit Bumrah on day three of the Lord’s Test. He bowled 13 no balls and had a wicketless day as England scored 391 and gained a 27-run lead. Root was unbeaten on 180 as the hosts dominated the day’s proceedings. Mohammed Shami dismissed James Anderson on the last delivery of the day to put an end to the England innings. While it was a good day for three pacers, Bumrah had a forgetful outing.

Meanwhile, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan during his interaction with Cricbuzz opined on what made Jasprit Bumrah bowl 13 no-balls during the England innings. Most of his no-balls cam in the final session of the day when he looked visibly tired and exhausted.

“Although it’s very difficult to explain this because it’s all run-up related but we talk about rhythm and the run-up, it’s possible that the stepping of your run-up, or the spot from where you push-off, that’s missing a bit. And secondly, I believe that when Bumrah wasn’t getting the wickets, he got a bit desperate to put in some extra effort and bowl a bit faster. But the way Bumrah bowled to Jimmy Anderson at the end, it will be interesting to see how Anderson returns the favor (chuckles),” Zaheer Khan elaborated in a chat with Cricbuzz after the day’s play.

Bumrah bowled a spell of 26-6-79-0. His figures might not have justified his consistency throughout the day barring the no balls. Mohammed Siraj (4/94) and Mohammed Shami (2/95) bagged six wickets between themselves with Ishant Sharma (3/69) picking key wickets as well including two wickets in quick succession.

India will look to bat through the day on day 4 and score close to 300 runs to make a match on the final day.
