Indian bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin joined the Indian team in England before the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. He was infected with the covid-19 virus but has now recovered.
The Indian players arrived in Leicester in batches a few days back. They were asked to undergo an RT-PCR test before boarding the flight. Ravichandran Ashwin’s test came positive, as a result, he failed to depart with the squad. The off-spinner was in quarantine and has recovered. He joined the rest of the Indian team in England before the four-day warm-up match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the news on their social media handles. Ahead of the warm-up, they posted a few pictures of the Indian players warming up, including Ravichandran Ashwin.

The warm-up match will serve as preparation for the Indian players ahead of the fifth rescheduled test match against England. Ravichandran Ashwin was part of the Indian camp last year for the first four tests. However, he did not get an opportunity, as the team preferred all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. This time, if the conditions suit two spinners, Ashwin might be in contention for a playing XI spot.
