Ravindra Jadeja is on the verge of an incredible record in his Test career. The all-rounder will be the second visiting cricketer and the first Indian to surpass a rare combination of scoring 1,000 Test runs and taking 30 or more wickets in England. Jadeja has proved himself in great form with 988 runs and 30 wickets over 16 tests in England, and only 12 more runs will mean he qualifies to be in this exclusive club, along with Garry Sobers.

The only player to have reached this milestone so far is the legendary West Indian all-rounder Sobers, with 1,820 runs and 30 wickets in 21 Tests on England turf. On Day 2 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, Jadeja will have a chance of becoming a member of this exclusive club along with Sobers. At the end of Day 1, India ended with a score of 264/4 (83 overs), with Jadeja yet to be dismissed with 19 runs off 37 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja’s Quest Continues

Ravindra Jadeja

The rise of Ravindra Jadeja to create this historic accomplishment is an aspect that will be monitored closely on Day 2 when he gets to the crease. In case he does, he will create history by becoming the first-ever Indian player to have scored this milestone in England. Some English All-rounders have also done this; Stuart Broad, Ian Botham, and Ben Stokes.

Jadeja was one of the finest Indian all-rounders in Test matches in England, having registered a brilliant tally of 988 runs and 30 wickets whipped off 16 games. He is not alone, as he is used to the company of great Indian all-rounders such as Kapil Dev, Vinoo Mankad, and Ravi Shastri, who have also achieved success in England.

In his present shape and spirit, Jadeja stands in a good position to attain this historic goal and carve out a niche in the world of cricket. The Indian cricket team will be hoping that Jadeja can emulate his good form and lead the team to the win in the fourth test.
