After a humiliating defeat against India, England will hope to bounce back when they lock horns against South Africa in a three-match ODI series. The first of the three ODIs will take place on Tuesday (July 19) at the Riverside Ground in Durham. This will be all-rounder Ben Stokes‘ last ODI game after he announced his retirement earlier today.
England have played relentless cricket in the last few days, which is likely to take a toll on the body of the players. However, Jos Buttler and Co. will hope to shrug off their defeats and come all guns blazing against South Africa. However, it will be a tough job for Buttler and head coach Matthew Motts to fill the void created by Stokes’ retirement.
South Africa, on the other hand, will be led by Keshav Maharaj in the absence of Temba Bavuma. With no Super League points up for grabs in this series, the Proteas have rested their star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada.
