England Announce Kieron Pollard As Assistant Coach For T20 World Cup 2024

Former West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard has been appointed as England’s assistant coach for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in June in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). The England Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced his appointment on Sunday, December 24.

Kieron Pollard will provide his expertise on the Caribbean conditions to the team for the marquee event. He is one of the best all-rounders in the T20 format in world cricket. The former West Indies cricketer has played over 600 matches in the format and was also part of the West Indies 2012 Men’s T20 World Cup.

“Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men’s coaching team for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States,” England Cricket Board (EBC) wrote in their official statement.

Kieron Pollard has represented the West Indies in 101 T20I matches, scoring 1569 runs at a strike rate of 135.14. He has also led them in 39 matches in the format. He has played in several T20 leagues all across the world. Kieron Pollard has led the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He was also an integral part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning five titles with them.

England’s form in the recent T20I series against West Indies

The England cricket team recently toured the West Indies for a limited-overs format series. They lost both the ODI as well as the T20I series. England lost the T20I series 3-2. There were several good performances for the visitors in the series. Philip Salt slammed consecutive T20I centuries. In five matches, he scored 331 runs at an average of 82.75. Meanwhile, Adil Rashid also performed well, picking up nine wickets in five games.
