Pakistan created history as they beat India for the first time ever in any ICC World Cup event in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. They registered a 10-wicket win over their arch-rivals to make headlines during the event. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was adamant about it before the T20 World Cup and Pakistan played the better cricket on the day. 

Pakistan’s spin-bowling all-rounder opened up on the historic win. In a conversation with PakPassion.net, he hailed the victory as a special moment. 

“It was really good and beating India always provides some special moments for everyone involved in Pakistan cricket. Of course, I enjoyed the occasion and the match, and the result was just perfect. There was pressure on us, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play against India in a Twenty20 World Cup and I was really grateful for that opportunity.”

Imad further said that Pakistan played perfect cricket on the night and everything that they touched turned into gold. 

“It felt like everything we touched that day turned to gold. Make no mistake, India are a very, very good side, but we just outclassed them on the day. The way we played was just fantastic and I would say that it was a near-perfect performance. In fact, I would go so far as to say that what we achieved on that day will be difficult to replicate in the future,” added Imad.

India and Pakistan had different fortunes in the tournament. While India made a league stage exit. Pakistan made it to the semi-finals. They lost the semi-final against Australia courtesy of some brilliance from Matthew Wade in the final overs. 

India & Pakistan Should Play More Often: Imad Wasim

Imad Wasim concluded by saying that both the countries should play more often. The two teams only play against each other in ICC tournaments in recent times due to cross-border tensions between both the nations and their respective governments. 

“As a player, you always want to compete at the highest level and against the best teams which is why these games are so special for us. I feel that being two world-class teams, India and Pakistan should play regularly against each other” he concluded saying.
