On Sunday, February 2, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shared photos on social media of himself playing cricket at the Parsee Gymkhana in South Mumbai. His visit came just before the fifth and final T20I between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium.
The 44-year-old noted on Instagram that a trip to Mumbai wouldn’t be complete without a game of cricket. He also commended the Parsee Gymkhana for its role in developing young talent. Sunak captioned his post:
“No trip to Mumbai would be complete without a game of tennis ball cricket. Oval Maidan remains one of the world’s great grassroots cricketing arenas, where people of all ages come together to play.”
“And just nearby, Parsee Gymkhana has been at the heart of Mumbai’s cricketing culture for generations, shaping young talent and keeping the spirit of the game alive. The energy, talent, and love for the sport here are incredible.”

Rishi Sunak Hails Abhishek Sharma’s Record-Breaking Knock as ‘One of the Best Ever’ in IND vs ENG 5th T20I
England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first, but the decision backfired as India put up a massive total of 247/9 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma stole the show for the hosts, blasting a sensational century in just 37 balls—making him the second-fastest Indian to reach the milestone, behind Rohit Sharma (35 balls).
The 24-year-old ended his innings with a stunning 135 off 54 deliveries, smashing seven fours and 13 sixes. In response, England struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Phil Salt (55) provided the only notable resistance, but the visitors were bundled out for just 97, suffering a crushing 150-run defeat.
With this win, India clinched the five-match series 4-1. Meanwhile, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his admiration for Abhishek’s outstanding performance on X, stating:
“One of the best ever T20 innings. Remarkable to have been there to see it.”
