With India needing a win to stay alive in the five-match series, which they currently trail 1-2, Gill delivered when it mattered most. His crucial 188-run partnership with KL Rahul for the third wicket helped stabilise the innings after a disastrous start.

Notably, Gill became the first Indian batter in 35 years to score a Test century in Manchester.
