Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj showered praise on Rohit Sharma’s leadership and the ability to understand the player’s mental state. The right-handed batter will lead India in his first overseas assignment as a skipper later this month in England.

Rohit Sharma has an impressive captaincy record for India across all the formats. Under his leadership, India whitewashed the likes of New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies at home. He will be keen to replicate the performance in England later this month.

Speaking about Rohit Sharma’s leadership at the launch of Voot Select’s web series Bandon Mein Tha Dum’, Mohammed Siraj expressed that the Indian skipper motivates the bowlers to do well in tough situations. He stated to ANI:

“Rohit understands the mental state of a player. Whenever we have a tough time out there on the field, he is the one who comes up with a plan B and motivates the bowlers to do better in the game. It’s a great feeling to work under a captain who understands you so well.”

Both Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj have been rested for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. They will be heading to England for a Test, followed by the T20I and ODI series.

To bowl long spells in Tests, I really need to focus on my consistency – Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj could not live up to the expectations of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team and fans in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He managed only nine wickets in the tournament and was expensive conceding runs at a 10.08 economy rate.

The pacer is now gearing up for the Test match against England. Ahead of the tour, Siraj expressed that he needs to work on his consistency to bowl long spells in red-ball cricket.

“Right now, we have some time before we play the Test against England so for now, I would be training at the ground near my house and working on my fitness, as jumping from T20 to Test is a big change. To bowl those long spells in Test cricket, I really need to focus on my consistency. It will be my only goal,” said Siraj.
