Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina predicted that skipper Rohit Sharma would notch his 33rd ODI century soon after his match-winning hundred in the second ODI against England in Cuttack. Rohit had been struggling for form, enduring six consecutive single-digit scores across formats.
The 37-year-old had gone 10 innings without even a half-century, averaging just seven runs in that period. However, he rediscovered his touch with a stunning 32nd ODI century, guiding India to a series-clinching 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a challenging target of 305, Rohit anchored the innings with a brilliant 119 off 90 balls, helping India secure victory with 33 deliveries to spare. While discussing Rohit’s sensational performance on Star Sports, Raina remarked [as quoted by India Today]:
“I had already said in the show that today is Rohit’s day. There was a different vibe in Cuttack, the fielding was sharp, and that’s how big players are—they win the series today, and they won’t leave Ahmedabad without seizing another opportunity. That 33rd century is also loading—I’m telling you!”

Suresh Raina praised Rohit Sharma’s exceptional footwork against the spinners and his precision in playing straight during the second ODI against England.
The Indian captain showed no mercy even against England’s top white-ball bowler, Adil Rashid, striking him for multiple boundaries. Rashid endured a tough outing, conceding 78 runs in his 10-over spell while picking up just one wicket.
“That 69 m six, the first shot—it deserves some commentary! My voice is already fading, but that flow, that signature of a great player, was evident.”
”Look at all those shots in the ‘V’! He used his footwork brilliantly against the spinners. He played fewer dot balls after each boundary and six, focusing more on rotation,” said Raina.
