Misbah-ul-Haq, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, is set to make a return to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after almost two years since he resigned as the head coach of the national team.

According to reports from ESPNcricinfo, Misbah will take up an advisory role on cricketing affairs, providing guidance and support to the current PCB head, Zaka Ashraf.

This appointment represents a significant move by the new leadership in their efforts to manage Pakistan cricket effectively. Notably, the position offered to Misbah is expected to be honorary, implying that he will not be receiving any compensation for his role.

The development marks Misbah-ul-Haq’s resurgence within the PCB fold, following his resignation in September 2021, just before Ramiz Raja assumed the position of PCB chairman.

In the interim period, Misbah has been engaged as an expert and analyst for various television networks, roles he is likely to continue alongside his new responsibilities with the PCB.

Back in September 2019, Misbah took over as the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, succeeding Mickey Arthur in the role.

During his tenure, he also held the position of chief selector for the team, taking charge of critical decisions concerning player selection.

Prior to his role as head coach, Misbah had a successful playing career for Pakistan and gained valuable experience under Mickey Arthur’s guidance when he led the Test team to the top of the international rankings.

Misbah’s dual role as head coach and chief selector ended when he resigned from his coaching position.

He was succeeded by a new leadership structure, and the PCB took on a caretaker chairman, Najam Sethi, for a brief period until Zaka Ashraf was chosen to lead the PCB’s new executive committee.

With Misbah-ul-Haq’s return to the PCB as an advisor, the board stands to benefit from his vast cricketing knowledge and experience.

His insights and expertise could prove invaluable in shaping the future direction of Pakistan cricket.

As he takes on this honorary role, fans and cricket enthusiasts await eagerly to witness his influence on the sport and the team’s performance under the new leadership’s guidance.
