In a bold announcement posted on his official X account, Mohammad Hafeez has issued a warning to divulge a comprehensive account of both cricket-related and other ‘non-cricketing’ factors that contributed to the Pakistan cricket team’s dismal performance during his tenure as Director of cricket.

Assuming the role immediately following Pakistan’s disappointing showing in the ODI World Cup 2023, Hafeez aimed to initiate a new phase in Pakistan cricket. Despite his aspirations, a string of unfavorable outcomes led to his removal from the position on February 16.

On Friday, Hafeez released a significant statement on his X account, expressing his initial fervor to enact constructive changes and taking full accountability for his decisions throughout his term. Additionally, he hinted at forthcoming revelations regarding the underlying causes of Pakistan’s underwhelming performances under his leadership.

Hafeez said: “I always Prioritise and represented Pakistan with dignity and Pride. I accepted the new role as a Director pcb with great passion to make positive reforms but Unfortunately my designated tenure which was offered by @TheRealPCB for 4 years was cut short for 2 mnths on the account of New chairmanship. Best wishes for Pakistan cricket future.

As always, I foremost take responsibility and put myself accountable for all my executions in my given time and will accordingly reveal all the cricketing and other amateur non cricketing facts which ensue bad performances.”

Following Pakistan’s lackluster display in the ODI World Cup 2023, Hafeez was appointed as the director of cricket. His tenure coincided with shifts in team leadership, with Babar Azam relinquishing the captaincy and Shan Masood assuming leadership in red-ball cricket, while Shaheen Shah Afridi was tasked with leading the ODI and T20I squads.

However, Pakistan’s struggles persisted, as evidenced by their 3-0 whitewash against Australia in the Test series during the tour Down Under. The subsequent 5-match T20I series against New Zealand yielded only one victory for the team.
