Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Roshan Mahanama Serves Tea And Buns To People Standing In Queues, Amid Fuel Crisis In The Country

In a kind gesture, former Sri Lanka cricketer Roshan Mahanama served tea and buns to people standing in queues, amid a severe fuel crisis in the country. Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic crisis since gaining independence in 1948.

The Island nation has an acute shortage of essential items like food, medicine, cooking gas and other fuel, toilet papers, etc. The people have suffered waiting in long queues to buy fuel and cooking gas. Amid such turmoil, former cricketer Roshan Mahanama’s gesture is winning hearts.

Roshan served tea buns to people standing in queues at a petrol station in Colombo. He shared images of him, captioning them as,

“We served tea and buns with the team from Community Meal Share this evening for the people at the petrol queues around Ward Place and Wijerama mawatha. The queues are getting longer by the day and there will be many health risks to people staying in queues.”

The former Sri Lankan cricketer urged the people to help each other in these tough times. He wrote, “Please, look after each other in the fuel queues. Bring adequate fluid and food and if you’re not well please, reach out to the closest person next to you and ask for support or call 1990. We need to look after each other during these difficult times.”

Roshan Mahanama featured in 52 Tests and 213 ODIs for Sri Lanka at the International level. He scored 2576 and 5162 runs in the respective formats. Roshan has eight International hundreds to his name across formats.

Meanwhile, the five-match ODI series is tied at 1-1 after the first two games. The limited-overs series will be followed by a couple of test matches at the Galle International Stadium.
