Kiwi all-rounder Kylie Jamieson has enrolled his name for the IPL 2021 auction for a base price of 75 lakhs. The 6ft. 6in tall cricketer is being termed as the next Andre Russell by former Indian batsmen and KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir. Jamieson broke into the New Zealand team only last year, making his Test and ODI debuts against India and T20I debut against Pakistan. Meanwhile, despite Jamieson being still a fresh name in international cricket, Gambhir feels he could establish himself among the finest all-rounders in business, like Andre Russell and Chris Morris.

Gautam Gambhir will be working with Star Sports in the experts panel for the IPL 2021 auction. Ahead of the auction, he spoke to the channel and spoke about Jamieson’s credentials as an international cricketer.

“Kyle Jamieson is not a big name at the moment, but he will turn out to be a superstar. This is probably the right auction for all franchises to get a hold of him. And because he is someone whom you can keep for a longer period of time. He is seven feet, he is that tall. He can bowl 140 and can hit the ball long. He probably could be the next Andre Russell in the making,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

Jamieson, who has registered himself for INR 75 lakh at the auction, is capable of triggering a bidding-war among franchises. Gambhir also feels that since the Kiwi cricketer hasn’t reached his peak yet, many franchises could instill faith in him and get him for a good price at the upcoming auction.

H further said that a franchise like Kings Xi Punjab who are looking or good all-rounders can go ahead and rope him in.

“Yes, he’s not a finished product and everyone knows about it, but is someone who is probably young and you can have that core built around him. A franchise like Kings XI (Punjab Kings) who are looking for that all-rounder or some other franchise, they can think of someone like Jamieson” Gambhir concluded saying.
