Gautam Gambhir Picks One Cricketer Who Gave Sleepless Nights In IPL

Former Indian international Gautam Gambhir recently picked Rohit Sharma as a cricketer who gave him ‘sleepless nights’ during his time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, after bidding goodbye to the game, Gambhir will be donning the mentor’s hat for the first time when he sits in the Lucknow Super Giants dugout during IPL 2022.

Widely regarded as a fine opening batsman, Gambhir has also earned recognition for his shrewd leadership capabilities. He masterminded two title-winning campaigns for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2012 and 2014.

Gautam Gambhir had plied trades for Delhi Capitals and the Knight Riders in the cash-rich league, but attained most success in the KKR jersey. In a recent discussion with Star Sports, Gambhir revealed how Rohit Sharma gave him sleepless nights ahead of their game against Mumbai Indians.

“As captain, Rohit Sharma is the only player who gave me sleepless nights. Neither Chris Gayle nor AB de Villiers nor anyone else, only Rohit Sharma. He is the player who gave me sleepless nights.” There is no more successful cricketer in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) than Rohit Sharma as captain,” said Gambhir.

Rohit Sharma stands as the most successful captain in the history of IPL, winning five titles with Mumbai Indians. As a player, he has won six trophies, which includes one with Deccan Chargers (now known as Sunrisers Hyderabad).

The 34-year-old has played 213 IPL matches scoring 5611 runs at an average of 31.17.

Another former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan lavishly praised on the Mumbai Indians captain, saying that Rohit will remain as one of the top cricketers for the five-time IPL champions.

“Rohit Sharma will always be remembered in the history of Mumbai Indians and IPL. Rohit Sharma’s name is forever on top for Mumbai Indians,” Pathan said. 

Mumbai Indians will begin their campaign in IPL 2022 against Delhi Capitals on March 27 at the Brabourne Stadium.
