Gautam Gambhir Reveals Why He Works In Indian Premier League Despite Being An MP
Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is one of the greatest cricketers of India. He is widely famous for his clutch knocks in the final of ODI WC and T20 WC. Gambhir has also joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after his retirement from Cricket.

Gambhir is also an MP from East Delhi. Gambhir has been criticised several times for doing commentary or being involved in Indian Premier League despite being an MP. Opposition party members believe that Gambhir should work for the welfare of Delhi people instead of working in IPL.

In a media interaction on occasion of BJP’s 8 years in power, Gambhir answered these questions. Gambhir said that he runs a kitchen and Library in Delhi for poor people. Gambhir answered: “Why I commentate in IPL or work in it is because I spend INR 25 lakh every month to feed 5000 people. This translates to roughly Rs. 2.75 crore per year. I’ve also spent INR 25 lakh to build a library.”

Gambhir also revealed that he gives all Money for the library from his own pocket and not from MP fund. Gambhir said: “I spend all of this money from my own pocket and not from the MPLAD fund. The MPLAD fund doesn’t run my kitchen or other things that I do. I don’t have a tree in my house from where I can pluck money either.”

“All this I do has an ultimate goal “- Gautam Gambhir reveals the reason behind working in IPL

In order to fulfil the monetary requirements of the kitchen and Library run by Gambhir, he needs to work in IPL or do commentary to fulfil his ultimate goal. Gambhir said that he has no shame in working in the Indian Premier League.

Gambhir was recently associated with Lucknow Super Giants as mentor. Gautam Gambhir in the interaction further said: “Only because I work, am I able to feed those 5000 people or establish that library. I have no shame in saying that I do commentary and work in the IPL. All of this that I do has an ultimate goal.”
