With the series tied at 1-1, the stage is all set at the Motera Stadium for the day-night Test between India and England. Days ahead of the tie, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has warned Virat Kohli & Co urging them not to think about the ICC World Test Championship.

Meanwhile, a lot will be at stake for both teams in the next two matches of the series scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad. If India beat England by 2-1 or a 3-1 margin, they will surely qualify for the final alongside Kane Williamson-led New Zealand.

India should focus on day-night Test – Gautam Gambhir

On the other hand, if England manage to steal a victory by a margin of 3-1, they can book a date with New Zealand in the final scheduled to take place later this year. Ahead of the penultimate Test, Gautam Gambhir has warned India not to think about the World Test Championship final.

“Every Test match is important, one should not keep on thinking about the World Test Championship. The team should focus on this pink-ball game. I think it would be a good Test match,” ANI quotes Gautam Gambhir as saying.

The third and penultimate Test between India and England will pretty much decide who will join New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final. It is set to be a day-night game, which will be India’s second at home and third overall.

Speaking of the same, Rohit Sharma said that although a place in the World Test Championship is at stake they need to do things right in the next match to keep their hopes alive. The senior batsman said they need to play good cricket in the next two Tests and then see what happens from there.

“To be honest, when we are playing the game, the focus is not on the outside. We want to qualify for the WTC finals, but we still to do a lot of things right to be there. We will be very happy to qualify for the WTC finals, but there are little steps that we need to take before we reach the finals. It is too far ahead still, we have got two Tests to play before that, we will see what happens after that,” Rohit Sharma said.
