Former English captain Michael Vaughan feels that Royal Challengers Bangalore is the perfect franchise for Glenn Maxwell where he can grow in the Indian Premier League. Maxwell, who scored just 108 runs in the last season for Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab), has already amassed 176 runs in three games with two half-centuries at a strike rate of 149.15. He currently holds the Orange Cap for being the highest run-scorer in the tournament.

After RCB stumbled at the crease losing two wickets cheaply, Maxwell launched 78 off 49 deliveries. He along with AB de Villiers propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore to a mighty total of 204 runs which in the end proved to be enough to seal the victory. As a result, the Virat Kohli-led side is currently at the top of the IPL 2021 points table with three wins on a trot.

RCB is the perfect team for Glenn Maxwell – Michael Vaughan

Speaking in the wake of Glenn Maxwell’s superlative form, Michael Vaughan feels that the mighty Australian will flourish in RCB as it is the perfect home for him. The former English skipper also believes that playing under the radar of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli will aid Maxwell.

“Glenn Maxwell is an incredible cricketer. He has never really flown in the IPL. Like we said about Moeen Ali, Chennai appears to be the spiritual fit for him and the right kind of franchise for Moeen Ali. I really feel RCB is the right franchise for Glenn Maxwell,” Michael Vaughan said while speaking with Cricbuzz.

“Here, he is under the radar, because you have got Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, he is like at the third position, whereas in other teams, he is the one from who usually expectations are high,” he added.

The 46-year-old Englishman explains that he will fly under the umbrella of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and RCB’s coaching staff. Michale Vaughan praised RCB for roping in the 32-year-old all-rounder and giving him the chance that he deserves. The Victorian is playing his natural game this season.

“But now he can sneak under the radar and probably he is not getting as much attention as he gets at other teams. Because there is Virat there, and there is AB de Villiers there. I think it’s been a smart move. Maxwell is a great signing this year for RCB,” Michael Vaughan elucidated.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are topping the points table after winning all the three games in this season so far. They registered a massive 38-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
