Whenever an IPL auction takes place, Glenn Maxwell is always a hot property as most all franchise show interest in the destructive striker from Australia. Maxwell even though underperformed in the last IPL seasons but again franchises went after him wholeheartedly in the auction. Eventually, it was the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who had a winning bid of a whopping Rs, 14.25 crores.
Glenn Maxwell Talks About His Big IPL Price Tag
Now Maxwell has joined RCB for IPL 2021 and ahead of the season talked about his big IPL price tag and why teams showed interest in him in the auction. The franchise posted a candid interview of Maxwell on their YouTube channel in which he admitted that he wasn’t expected a big bid and was a little surprised when franchises were going after him in the auction. Maxwell added that he knew teams will go after him as they would need a middle-order batsman who could ball and was glad when RCB eventually acquired him for IPL 2021.
“Not really (about the big bid), I thought there might be a little interest, I think a lot of teams wanted that middle-order player from overseas and knew a couple of teams were looking for a batting off-spinner option and yeah just glad two teams went hard in the auction for me and RCB got a hold of me”, said Maxwell.Â

Popularly known as the ‘Big-show’, Maxwell is keen to play with Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli at RCB as he holds high regards for both of them.
Meanwhile, the Australian got stuck in his first-intra-squad match for RCB a couple of days ago and showed great batting form as he smashed his RCB bowlers to all parts. Maxwell is likely to make his debut for RCB in the season opener against Mumbai Indians on April 9 in Chennai.
