Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has named his top four teams for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The prestigious tournament is all set to take place from October 5 to November 19, 2023, in India. This will be the first time that India will be the only host of the World Cup, as they were joint hosts previously.
Glenn McGrath has picked Australia, Pakistan, England and India, as the four best teams at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He shared that England and Pakistan are playing good cricket, and India being the hosts will have an advantage. England will be heading into the World Cup as the defending champions. Speaking to the Times of India, Glenn McGrath said,
“You wouldn’t be surprised I’m putting Australia in that four. Obviously, India are playing in their own conditions. England are playing some great cricket and Pakistan are also playing fine. So they are the best four.”

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be making his comeback against Ireland, just a few months before the World Cup. He has been out of action since September 2022 due to a back injury. Former cricketer Glenn McGrath praised Bumrah’s performance in Indian conditions. He termed India as the “toughest place” for a fast bowler. He added that if a fast bowler succeeds in India, then the player can succeed anywhere in the world.
“India is probably the toughest place to be a fast bowler. Pitches are not that juicy here. But now young (seam) bowlers are coming from India, whom probably we haven’t seen before. It’s because fast bowling here wasn’t as focused as it is now. If you succeed here, you can succeed anywhere in the world as a fast bowler,” said Glenn McGrath.
