The upsurge of the coronavirus pandemic has led to a lockdown in various places across the globe. Celebrities and renowned personalities are trying their best to raise awareness among the fans in a bid to contain the deadly virus from spreading.

The pandemic, as declared by the World Health Organisation, has resulted in cancelling of many global events. The streets are put under curfew with offices being shut and people assigned work from home jobs. The number of positive cases in India have seen a stark rise in the last few days. The number of positive cases have almost touched 500 with a death toll almost touching the double-digit.

The entire country has gone into lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his recent speech announced that the country will be under lockdown for 21 days until April 15 considering the current situation.

Amid the tough times, BCCI is also not sure about hosting IPL 2020. Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly admitted that they don’t have any clear picture on the future of the tournament and a decision can only be taken in the second half of April. Meanwhile, Ganguly has offered Eden Gardens to the Government of West Bengal for Quarantine facilities.

“If government asks us, we will certainly hand over the facility. Anything that is need of the hour, we will do it. There is absolutely no problem,” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI.

Furthermore, Sourav Ganguly also welcomed the decision of a complete lockdown in the country. The former India skipper is hopeful that the current measure will help to contain COVID-19. He also revealed that he will speak to BCCI secretary Jay Shah to come out with some monetary help from BCCI.

“I think this is the best option at the current moment. Certain things are beyond anybody’s control. Whatever directives that the government and ministry of health gives us, we have to follow. That’s the case all over the world,” said Sourav Ganguly.
