As the Indian Premier League 2026 season is around the corner, the Gujarat Titans have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as an assistant coach, the franchise announced on Wednesday (March 11).
Dahiya, who played two Test matches and 19 ODIs for India, has a lot of coaching experience in the setup. However, he was part of the coaching staff that helped the Delhi team to the Ranji Trophy title in the 2007-08 season as well.
Vijay Dahiya was the assistant coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders
In the IPL, he was the assistant coach at the Kolkata Knight Riders and played an important role in their first two title wins, in 2012 and 2014, as well.
In 2019, Vijay Dahiya was appointed as the head talent scout of the Delhi Capitals as well. Then, he moved to the Lucknow Super Giants as an assistant coach as well. His appointment by the Gujarat Titans came soon after they appointed former Australia opener Matthew Hayden as batting coach.
Since joining the IPL in 2022, the Gujarat Titans have become one of the more consistent teams in the tournament. They won the title in their debut year, and they have reached the playoffs in three of their first four seasons as well.
