Hamilton Masakadza to lead Zimbabwe in the World T20 2016: Zimbabwe cricket has announced a 15-man squad for the World T20 to be held in India next month. Hamilton Masakadza has been named captain of the team. Hamilton Masakadza has recently smashed the second highest T20 score – 162* in the Domestic Twenty20 Competition.
Fast bowler Tendai Chatara is back in the squad for the first time in a year. He suffered a fractured left leg during the World Cup 2015. Tinashe Panyangara, who missed the recent 5-match T20I series in Bangladesh with a back injury, is also back in the squad. Taurai Muzarabani and Brian Vitori are the two seamers who missed the cut due to their return.
Three specialist spinners have been included in the squad – Tendai Chisoro, Graeme Cremer and Wellington Masakadza. Apart from them, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza will be back-up part-time spinners. Opening batsman Chamu Chibhabha will be disappointed not to see his name in the squad.
Zimbabwe will play Scotland, Hong Kong and Afghanistan in the qualifying stage of the tournament. If qualify, they will meet Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and West Indies in Group 1 of the Super-10 stage.
