Harry Brook All Set To Feature For Yorkshire In The County Championship Games

Harry Brook will make a comeback to professional cricket during the initial matches of the County Championship after withdrawing from IPL 2024 with the Delhi Capitals. Yorkshire head coach Ottis Gibson has confirmed that the young cricketer will be ready to play from the beginning of the tournament.

The Delhi Capitals acquired the right-handed batter for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, with plans for him to represent their team. However, the English player chose to withdraw from the tournament to mourn his grandmother’s passing with his family.

Additionally, he opted out of the Test series against India. As a result, the County Championship will be his initial experience of competitive cricket in 2024. Gibson informed the Yorkshire website ahead of their season opener against Leicestershire on April 5 (via Sky Sports):

“Now that Brooky isn’t going to the IPL, I suspect he’s going to be available for us for the first few games, including [against] Leicestershire.”

Gibson also mentioned that England’s former Test captain Joe Root is likely to be ready to play for Yorkshire. He said:

“He [Brook] loves playing for us, and Rooty is also going to be available for some games in that early period. Having those two playing for us would be special.”

Root participated in the Test series against India. While he struggled in the first three matches, the 33-year-old bounced back with a century in Ranchi. Despite winning the opening Test, the tourists lost the series 4-1.

“I spent a huge amount of my childhood in her home” -Harry Brook suffers the loss of his grandmother

In March, the right-handed player shared on his Instagram account how his grandmother expressed pride in seeing him play for England.

“I lost my grandmother last month – she was a rock to me and I spent a huge amount of my childhood in her home; my attitude to life and love for cricket was shaped by her and my late grandfather.”

“When at home, there would hardly be a day go by that didn’t include seeing her. It makes me so happy that she was able to see me play cricket for England,” Harry Brook wrote.

As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, the Yorkshire batsman is a strong contender for the tournament.
