Harry Brook returned to competitive cricket with a superb century for Yorkshire in the second-division county championship game against Leicestershire at Headingley, Leeds on 8th April 2024.

The match was interrupted due to rain which resulted in the match ending in a draw. Harry Brook showed his class by putting the Leicester bowlers under pressure with positivity. He took on the bowlers keeping scoreboard ticking and making life tough for the bowlers.

Brook came to the crease with Yorkshire struggling at 73 for 3. He showed intent right from the word go keeping the momentum going. Brook made the batting look at ease with a century off 69 deliveries. His innings included 14 fours and 2 sixes while Adam Lyth also smashed a century before Yorkshire declared their innings on 246 for 6. Leicestershire ended with 26 for 0 before the rain stopped play.

 

Yorkshire got 12 points for this game while Leicester awarded 13 points. It was a bright knock by Brook who continued his superb stroke play and made the batting look at ease. Harry Brook withdrew from IPL due to the passing of his grandmother. He was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 Crore after SRH decided to release him after a disappointing performance in IPL 2023.

The dashing England batter, Brook scored 190 from 11 matches (11 innings) including a century against Kolkata Knight Riders. After that knock, Brook failed to contribute much as SRH did not qualify for the playoff stage in 2023. South African pace bowler Lizaad Williams has been named as his replacement for the remainder of IPL 2024. Delhi Capitals is currently struggling at number 10th spot with 1 win from 5 matches.

He decided to skip the 5-match test series against India due to personal reasons which was a huge blow for England as they lost the series by 1-4.

Harry Brook’s performance for England

Harry Brook has shown tremendous skills for England across all formats. He made his Test debut against South Africa in 2022. Brook played a total of 12 Test matches (20 innings) and scored 1181 runs with the best score of 186 against NZ including 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries. He featured during the last Ashes test match against Australia in July 2023.

He has played 15 ODI matches for England with 407 runs including the best score of 80. Brook was a part of the team that did not qualify for the semi-finals of World Cup 2023.

Brook looked impressive in the T20I format with 544 runs from 29 matches (26 innings) with best score of 81 at a strike rate of 144.68. He played his last T20I match against West Indies in December 2023.
