Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has backed veteran batter Virat Kohli to break legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record of hundred International centuries. He expressed that the prolific run-scorer can score atleast fifty more international centuries. Virat Kohli slammed his 75th hundred against Australia in the fourth Test of the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

The former Indian skipper was going through a rough patch in Test cricket off late. His last century had come against Bangladesh in 2019. However, Virat Kohli made a roaring comeback ending the century drought. He smashed 186 runs off 364 deliveries, with fifteen boundaries. Team India managed to take the first-innings lead, and eventually, the match ended in a draw.

Hailing Virat Kohli, Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed while speaking to Sports Tak,

“It’s certainly possible. I think he can score more than that (100 centuries). Two things favor Virat here: his age and his fitness. He’s 34 but his fitness is that of a 24-year-old cricketer. He’s way ahead in that aspect.”

“He has already scored 75 centuries, he can score at least 50 more. He knows his game and he plays all formats. You might think I’m going overboard with this, but it is certainly possible. If anyone can do it, it’s Virat Kohli. Rest all are far behind him,” he added.

I don’t think Virat Kohli will stop from here: Harbhajan Singh

Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh further expressed that Virat Kohli’s batting abilities are “god-gifted”. He added that there are no technical faults in the cricketer’s batting. Harbhajan said that the former Indian skipper will only rise from here. He said,

“He knew he had to work on his fitness because his batting abilities are god-gifted. I don’t think he will stop from here. There are no technical faults, and even if they are, he works on them and rectifies them. Since his return (after the break), he has already scored five centuries. This is pretty much a comeback for him.”

Virat Kohli finished the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy as the second-leading run-scorer. He scored 297 runs at an average of 49.50 in four matches. Team India won the four-match series 2-1 and has retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy. They also qualified for the World Test Championship final, which will take place in June at the Oval against Australia.
