Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his confidence in the potential of Shubman Gill, a prominent batsman in the Indian cricket scene. Singh believes that Gill possesses the capability to emerge as the standout player of his generation.

Shubman Gill, aged 24, is already recognized as one of the rising stars in Indian cricket. His prowess with the bat has not gone unnoticed, and he has become a valuable asset to the Indian team. Nevertheless, it’s evident that Gill’s peak performance is yet to be fully realized, as his batting skills continue to improve over time. During the recent three-match ODI series against Australia, Gill demonstrated his batting prowess by emerging as the highest run-scorer.

“Since he was 19-20, his attitude has always been like that” – Yuvraj Singh on Shubman Gill

Yuvraj Singh exclusively said: “Shubman Gill has the potential to become the best player of this generation. The guy works hard. Since he was 19-20, his attitude has always been like that. He works four times harder than a normal guy since he was a kid. Whatever I have worked with him, he can be the player of this era,”

He (Gill) scored 91 in a Test match which India won. He scored two fifties as well on his first tour to Australia which I don’t know how many players have done. I am sure he will score runs in Australia, South Africa as well as England.”

Gill’s cricketing journey in 2023 had its ups and downs. After a stellar season in the Indian Premier League, he experienced a temporary dip in form. However, his remarkable comeback was highlighted by his exceptional performance in the 2023 Asia Cup, where he concluded as the leading run-scorer with 302 runs across six matches, boasting an impressive average of 75.50.

Subsequently, in the ODI series against Australia, Gill continued to shine, amassing 178 runs in just two matches with an average of 89. Despite facing criticism for underperforming against West Indies in the Test series and T20Is earlier in the year, Gill’s resurgence in the Asia Cup has firmly placed him among India’s key players for the upcoming Cricket World Cup in 2023.
