The hero from the inaugural edition of the ICC World T20 in 2007, Joginder Sharma has once again hit the headlines this time for fighting against the pandemic coronavirus. The former cricketer-turned policeman is working day in and out to help the sufferers.
The right-arm medium pace bowler shot the fame for his final over against Pakistan in 2007 T20 World Cup final that helped Team India in becoming the World Champions. He got Misbah-ul-Haq out in the penultimate delivery of the over to turn the table in India’s favour and bring home the trophy. Since then, they are yet to win the competition again.

Currently working as the Deputy Superintendent of police in Haryana, Joginder Sharma is actively helping India in its fight against coronavirus pandemic. Speaking recently after the news broke out, the real-life hero rated his work to help the COVID-19 sufferers as higher than winning the World Cup for India.
“Obviously, this contribution is much bigger because people are losing their lives. It was also a big thing, winning the World Cup for India, but here we have to save the nation. And even if I am playing a small part in this, then it is huge,” Sharma was quoted as saying in Wisden.

Furthermore, Joginder Sharma wishes to utilise his popularity in cricket to communicate with the people in the situation of crisis. India have already witnessed over 1200 positive COVID-19 cases with the death toll over 30.
