The deputy Sanjay Bangar and bowling and fielding coaches Bharat Arun and R Sridhar will be getting somewhere around 2.3 crores a year. These amounts have been fixed taking into consideration that they need to be compensated for losing their IPL contracts. Bangar and Sridhar were working with KXIP.
The decision about the remuneration of coaches was taken by BCCI acting president CK Khanna, CEO Rahul Johri, Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji who are the members of the panel.
Newly appointed coach Ravi Shastri is expected to get a somewhere around 8 crores a year. Anil Kumble was paid 6.5 crores for his services. Ravi Shastri will be getting a little over 1 Crore more than Kumble. It is exactly the same amount that Kumble demanded just a few days before his resignation.
Some sources say Anil Kumble had also demanded 9 crores, which would have put him close to Grade “A” cricketer”s payments and was considered exorbitantly abnormal.
Ravi Shastri”s package of approximately 8 crores is the highest among all the coaches that have worked with team India. It is reported that John Wright pocketed 80 lakh during his stint between 2002-2005. Chappell on the other was paid 1 Crore. Duncan Fletcher who served India from 2011 to 2015 was paid 4.2 crores a year.
Ravi Shastri”s contract is up to 2019 World Cup. His first assignment as full-time coach of India is against Sri Lanka starting on July 26. Shastri has previously served India in a stint as team director between 2014 to 2016. Under his watchful eyes, India enjoyed a good time all in all.
Some of the glorious moments include winning The Lord”s test in July 2014, India”s splendid run in World Cup 2015 till the semi final and test series win in Sri Lanka after 22 years. He gave Anil Kumble a tough competition in the battle for a coach in 2016.
