The only skipper to win all three ICC trophies for a country is none other than MS Dhoni. The 37-year old has redefined the gentleman”s game with his calm and composed attitude on the field and not to forget his finishing with a six.

Following his exclusion from the T20I squad, the social media speculated that this would be an end to his limited-overs career. But one of the greatest Indian legends is on Dhoni”s side now.

In the pre-match analysis show (Star sports), Sunil Gavaskar mentioned that Dhoni”s presence is vital for the upcoming World Cup in 2019. In fact, Gavaskar said that he is an “absolute must” for the side as it needs experience. Dhoni having represented three 50-over World Cups led his team successfully in 2011. Even in the 2015 World Cup, the side remained undefeated till the semi-final and his captaincy had brought a  difference to the side.

Speaking on the same Sunil Gavaskar said “Virat needs Dhoni. There”s no doubt about it. In 50 overs where there is that much more time, that”s when MSD comes into play. You know he makes those small field adjustments, talking to the bowlers in Hindi – telling them where to bowl and what to bowl. It”s a huge plus for Virat.”

It is to be noted that spin twins Chahal and Kuldeep had admitted to the fact that Dhoni”s words behind the stumps helped them to read the batsmen better. Gavaskar also lauded Indian opener Rohit Sharma for his destruction at the top and his ability to aid the skipper in times.
