The team is scheduled to play three test matches, five ODI’s and one T-20 International in Sri Lanka.  The statement also said that there is no health or fitness issue with Rohit Sharma and he will join the team in Colombo on August 4.

The Board of Cricket Control of India in a statement said, “The BCCI medical team confirms that batsman Mr. Rohit Sharma will undergo a scheduled medical checkup, as a follow up after his recent surgery, there is no health or fitness concern and Mr. Rohit Sharma will fly to Mumbai later today i.e. August 3, 2017, and will rejoin the team tomorrow i.e. August 4, 2017.”

The Mumbai batsman underwent a thigh surgery in November last year in London and was out of the game for a long time. He returned to competitive cricket playing for his franchise based team Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League.

However, the middle-order batsman is yet to be part of the first eleven. He played the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President XI where he scored 38 runs.
