The BCCI announced the 18-man squad for the first three tests of the five-match series against England. Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh pant were named the wicketkeepers in the squad.
However, test specialist Wriddhiman Saha hadn”t made it to the squad due to an injury. Saha sustained a right thumb injury during the IPL season and that made him unavailable for the one-off test against Afghanistan.
Reports suggest that the wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has been battling a shoulder injury and is expected to undergo a surgery in days to come. This might as well keep him out of the Australian series in December.
Wriddhiman Saha scored over 1160 runs in the longest format of the game. His partnership with cheteswar Pujara in 2017 against Australia at Ranchi had been of the finest innings that redefined his presence. His cameo with lower order played a vital role in clinching certain notable wins (The Bangalore test in the same series as mentioned above).
His official Instagram post confirmed that Wriddhiman Saha is currently running through a “lean patch” and this might kept him aside from the England series.
The post further thanked all the fans for supporting him during the tough times. It seemed that the post was actually shared by his PR team as it was mentioned “Team Wriddhi”.

Wriddhiman Saha also became the first player in the Indian Premier League to score a century in the final (2014). Further updates regarding his injury are awaited.
All eyes will be on Dinesh Karthik who has to fill Wriddhiman Saha”s shoes in the England series.
