The much anticipated Sachin Tendulkar”s biopic “Sachin: A billion dreams” had a rocking start on the first day. The movie released on 26 May crossed a whooping 9 crores on first day itself.
The biopic shows the metamorphosis of a 10 year-old boy from Mumbai who went on to become by what many regard him as God of Cricket.
The movie saw 40% occupancy in most place and it is expected that there will be a surge in occupancy over the course of the weekend. The biopic was released in 2400 screens in India and 400 abroad.
Bollywood experts reviewed the movie as a hit considering it is a docu-drama. In the list of highest opening grossers of 2017, “Sachin: A Billion Dreams” is ranked 6th with 9 crores on the first day. Shahrukh Khan”s Raees ranks 1st with 20.43 crores.

MS Dhoni”s biopic “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” fetched more than twice of what Tendulkar”s biopic has done. It recorded 21 crores on the first day.
However the movie has got off to a good start and will be interesting to see how much more it fetches in days to come!
