Former India opener and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has once again implied against the inclusion of Hardik Pandya in his playing XI. He stated that rather than having bits and pieces players in the side, he would rather have specialists who would add more value to the side.
I+n the past, we have seen how Manjrekar had Ignite*d an enormous debate a year ago because of a remark referring Ravindra Jadeja as ‘bits and pieces’ cricketer. Which did create quite a lot of stir on the social media among fans, after which prior to the IPL began, Manjrekar was not included in the list of commentators as announced by the BCCI.

‘Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team’ – Sanjay Manjrekar
This time around Manjrekar has targeted the likes of Hardik Pandya in the side as he stressed upon the inclusion of specialist players who can contribute to the side with discipline in one speciality rather than not being great in any of the skills. Sanjay Manjrekar also cleared that he does not have any problem with Ravindra Jadeja but a problem with his kind of cricketers.
“My selection and thoughts are based on a principle that I have learned over the years: if you have specialists who can walk-in based on one discipline, you fill your team with those players. I do not have a problem with Jadeja; I have a problem with his kind of cricketers in white-ball cricket,” Manjrekar told The Hindu.
Sanjay Manjrekar further added how Hardik Pandya won’t be a part of his side since he adds a lot of illusory value. In the end, he reminded the people how he has always rated Ravindra Jadeja highly especially in the test format.
“Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team. They add illusory value to the team. Of course, I have always rated Jadeja highly in the Test format,” he added.
