India vice-captain Rohit Sharma took to Twitter to send out a strong message ahead of the West Indies series. Rohit makes a statement

Just hours after the men in blue left for Florida to play 2 T20Is, Rohit tweeted, “I don”t just walk out for my Team. I walk out for my country.” In the last decade, Rohit is the only cricketer to have hit 300-plus sixes in international cricket. His sublime streak in ODIs often got overshadowed by Kohli”s brilliance

However, Kohli has often heaped praises on Rohit the ODI batter. He has recently said that Rohit is currently the best batsman in ODI format. Kohli had earlier said that 45 minutes of bad cricket ruled India out of the World Cup. The loss did play a part in igniting a fire to the talks. Therefore, at the recent press conference, Kohli expressed his disappointment on hearing talks of a possible rift between the two.

Reports of “rift” is baffling: Kohli

“In my opinion, it”s baffling to be honest. It”s absolutely ridiculous to read such stuff that comes out. I have been to a few public events and the sentiment is “aap log kya khele (you guys played so well).” he said.

“We are feeding off lies. We are overlooking facts. The fact is that we are turning a blind eye to all the good things that has happened. We are creating fantasies and scenarios in our head and want to accept that this is the truth.” the 30-year-old added.

India head coach Ravi Shastri echoed Kohli”s sentiments. He said that no individual is bigger than the game of cricket. Shastri highlighted the team”s impressive outings in recent past and said that there are no differences. Shastri has often rated both Kohli and Rohit highly. He has often said that the leadership group takes mutual calls.

“The way this team plays, no individual is bigger than the game. Not me, not him (Virat), nobody in the team. And the way they play, it is in the interest of the team. You cannot have the kind of consistency across all the formats if you have rifts or divisions. I have been part of the dressing room and none of that nonsense is there,” said Ravi Shastri.
