Since his debut, Hardik Pandya has become a vital cog in Mumbai Indians side. Pandya is a three-dimensional cricket and contributes to every aspect of the game. He has now earned the tag of being a destructive hitter in the death overs. The all-rounder has improved leaps and bounds and that is why he is also a regular in the Indian side.

It all changed when he debut for Mumbai Indians in 2015 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Rohit believed in the abilities of Pandya and gave him the role of a finisher. Pandya did not disappoint his captain as he has played a crucial role in MI winning the IPL title in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

“I have always enjoyed playing with Rohit and he has been a great captain. We don’t have many conversations about the game but I have had my best years playing under him”. Jasprit Bumrah is calm and knowledgeable. He’s someone who I enjoy being with. We have got success together and have genuinely shared that success”, Pandya was quoted as saying by Mumbai Indians.

After their match-winning performances at Mumbai Indians, both Pandya and Bumrah were selected in the Indian side in 2016. Pandya today is by far the best all-rounder in India. Bumrah, on the other hand, is arguably the best all formats fast bowler in the world today.

Pandya hasn’t been able to play much cricket after the 2019 cricket world cup because of injury. He was initially expected to return for the Test series against New Zealand earlier this year. In the end, BCCI decided against it and picked him for the home ODI series against South Africa. The first ODI was a washout and later the series got postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
