Yograj Singh, former India cricketer and father of legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, recently made headlines for his bold remarks during an interview on Unfiltered by Samdish. Yograj, who played just one Test and six ODIs for India in 1980-81, revealed a startling anecdote about confronting Kapil Dev with a pistol after being dropped from the North Zone team when Kapil became captain.

Adding to the controversy, he stated that the Hindi language sounds like “a woman is talking.” Despite his controversial comments, Yograj also claimed that he was a superior batsman compared to his son Yuvraj. “If Yuvraj had worked even 10 percent as hard as I did, he would have become a great cricketer,” Yograj asserted.

Comparing Careers: Yograj and Yuvraj

Yograj’s cricketing career was brief and lacked significant impact, with only one Test and six ODIs to his name. In stark contrast, Yuvraj is celebrated as one of India’s greatest all-rounders, known for his pivotal contributions to India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup victories.

Yuvraj’s illustrious career included 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, amassing over 10,000 international runs and 17 centuries across formats. His remarkable performance in the 2011 World Cup, where he scored 362 runs and claimed 15 wickets, earned him the Player of the Tournament award, cementing his legacy in Indian cricket.

Yograj’s Shocking Perspective on Yuvraj’s Cancer Battle

Another sensational claim made by Yograj during the interview was his reaction to Yuvraj’s battle with cancer during the 2011 World Cup. Yograj said he would have been a proud father even if Yuvraj had succumbed to the disease, as long as India won the tournament.

“For our country, if Yuvraj Singh had died from cancer and India had won the World Cup, I would still have been proud. I told him over the phone, ‘Don’t worry, you won’t die. Win this World Cup for India,’” Yograj revealed. Despite the harshness of his words, he reiterated his pride in Yuvraj’s achievements and perseverance, highlighting the family’s unwavering commitment to Indian cricket.
