England pacer Jofra Archer’s longstanding elbow injury has been giving headaches to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for quite some time now. Only in his third year of international cricket, the speedster has already missed many important fixtures, all thanks to his injuries.

The Barbados-born fast bowler suffered an elbow injury last year and it only aggravated during England’s tour of India. He has now undergone elbow surgery and is set to miss few more weeks of the game for the long run.

I just want to sort this injury for once and all – Jofra Archer

While the fans would be hoping for Jofra Archer to make a thumping comeback, the speedster is not so optimistic about his return. The Sussex pacer also stated that he’ll not hurry to take the field again as he wants to get rid of the injury once and for all.

“The way I am looking at things is that I would rather miss a few weeks of a year so that I have a few more years in my career. I just want to get this injury sorted once and for all and that’s why I’m not looking that far ahead or at dates for a return to action — because if I don’t get this right, I won’t play any cricket. Period,” Archer wrote for daily.mail.co.uk.

“I am not going to do myself any good by coming back before I’m fully fit, so I will take my time and do what is best for me and my life,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jofra Archer’s statement comes as a major shock to the fans with a couple of important series lined up. In August September, England play India in a five-match Test series followed by the T20 World Cup.

Up next, England will play a two-match Test series against New Zealand on June 2. Apart from Archer, many key players like Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes are resting from the series
