Ian Bishop right now is one of the most powerful voice in international cricket. The former West Indies fast bowler is known for having an astute cricket mind. He was recently in conversation with Indian commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz. Ian Bishop named his best ODI XI of the last decade.
Bishop went for an explosive opening partnership of David Warner from Australia and India’s Rohit Sharma. Both have a stellar record in ODI cricket and their inclusion should not surprise anyone. Warner has already notched up 5267 runs in ODI at an average of 45.8 including 18 centuries. Whereas Rohit Sharma has an even better record in ODI. Rohit has 9115 runs at an average of 49.3 three including 29 tons.
Ian Bishop names MS Dhoni as the skipper of his ODI XI of the decade
At 3 and 4 he went with probably the two greatest ODI batsmen of all time. Indian captain Virat Kohli and former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. Kohli the number 1 ODI batsman has 11,867 runs at a mind-boggling average of almost 60 that includes 43 hundred. De Villiers, on the other hand, ended his career with 9577 runs at 53.5 with 25 hundred at a strike rate of 101.
In the middle order, he picked Ross Taylor at 5, Shakib Al Hassan at 6 and former India captain MS Dhoni as the skipper of his side. Taylor of New Zealand has 8575 runs with 21 hundred and Shakib has 6323 runs and 260 wickets. Dhoni the master finisher won every trophy as a captain in his career. He scored over 10,000 runs an average of 50 batting lower down the order.
Bishop picked a hostile fast bowling attack that included Australian Mitchell Starc, South African Dale Steyn and Lasith Malinga. Bishop stated that he was confused about whom to pick between Japrit Bumrah and Malinga. Ultimately he went with the Sri Lankan legend who has over 300 wickets to his name.
He went in with Rashid Khan as the lone front line spinner of his side. The Afghanistan superstar has bamboozled batsmen all around the world with his leg spinners. Rashid currently has 133 ODI wickets at a brilliant average of 26.8 and has also picked four 5 wicket hauls in just 71 matches.
